The 2 stars are for the mechanics diagnosing the problem, for customer service I’d give them 0 stars. We took our vehicle in needing to know why it was stuck in 2nd gear. We’d been to two other shops already and got two different answers. So by the time we went to Honest Wrenches (after reading so many good reviews) we figured if he diagnoses matched another that must be the issue and we just wanted it fixed. We did, however, ask to get a quote before they just repaired. So we get a call that they’ve done the testing, $462 just to find the problem, ok fine. He tells us the repair will cost up to $1,900 more. We might be one of the few people who won’t be taken advantage of, I don’t know, but with a diagnoses we do our own research on the cost to repair; one reason is because if we can fix it ourselves we will. But Josh at Honest Wrenches did Not like that at all! He was reluctant to tell me the exact part name/number when I asked, told me they had already put time into finding the problem so it wasn’t fair to them for us to consider taking Our vehicle somewhere else just to save some money. He also claimed my husband had given him the OK to do the job in a prior conversation. This prior conversation which we had with Josh on Speaker Phone Together we never gave him the OK to fix it, we actually said we’ll have to discuss it and give them a call back -because $2300 all said and done was a lot of money. An estimate Double what the first mechanic we saw gave us! And that’s exactly what I found, finally after getting the part name, doing my own research I found that “Honest” Wrenches is anything but Honest. And I have an entire text thread to show lack of professionalism. On our phone conversation when he gave us the repair quote we told Josh that was a lot of money and we’d want to shop around, he assured us the actual work to fix it wasn’t the bulk of the cost, it’d take an hour to put in. The bulk of the cost was the part, the Totally Integrated Power Module. I called the Dealership and the part is $1,000. Like Josh said, to put it in is nothing so the Dealership quoted us $1,100 for the job. So after $462 in tests, $1,000 in parts, and an hour of labor -usually about $125, Honest Wrenches upcharged the part about 70%. Which is crazy. I will never recommend Honest Wrenches to anyone because of the ridiculous manner in which Josh choose to respond to my inquiries about the part (answers I Paid for!) and because they are Nowhere Near responsible on price, despite what other reviews say. Honest Wrenches $1,900 repair vs. 3 other quotes for $1,100. Josh said “haven’t you had enough problems trying to save a buck?”, his response to me wanting to shop around. To save $800 on the Part(!), my shopping around and intuition paid off!! Don’t go to Honest Wrenches! You didn’t get me accurate prices.

Honest Wrenches always has excellent service. I love how they send a link to view all the different services they would suggest you preform on your car, as well as pictures. They also have free loaner cars, which worked perfectly for me! After my car was fixed, they brought it around front and wiped all the interior areas they touched with a Clorox wipe. A+! I was referred to these guys by one of my friends and I'm so thankful! They were able to squeeze my car in after the engine stopped turning over and I was able to get it back in working condition in a day. They were very open and very communicative which I really appreciated! 10/10 would recommend (and use again!)

My daughter's car broke down in Des Moines during a trip and we were referred to Honest Wrenches for service. They were indeed "honest" and open about repair options and went so far as to find a replacement engine in Indiana. Ultimately we elected to scrap the vehicle which they also took care of. Courteous and professional service. Highly recommend.

Service was fast, good and priced fairly! Impressive combination!
